Job Title: Technical Services Librarian

Salary: $3,623 - $4,347 per month DOQ Exempt
Description:

1.      SUPERVISES, RECRUITS, SELECTS, TRAINS, APPRAISES, and COUNSELS library Technical Services personnel.  ASSISTS in development of library goals and objectives and budget.  COORDINATES and PRIORITIZES section activities.

2.       MONITORS workflows of Technical Services activities to ensure effective and efficient handling of materials and delivery of library services, adjusting priorities as needed.

3.      PLANS and SUPERVISES all Technical Services functions. 

4.      ENSURES and MAINTAINS the integrity of the library authority, bibliographic and acquisitions databases.

5.      SERVES as an expert cataloging resource.  PERFORMS copy cataloging.  SPECIALIZES in original cataloging of difficult to catalog materials.  CLASSIFIES using the current version of Dewey Decimal Classification.

6.      SELECTS and EVALUATES selected library resources, including audio-visual, print, and electronic.

7.      PERFORMS other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Masters Degree or equivalent in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Three to five (3-5) years experience in library technical services including authority control, cataloging, and acquisitions, preferably in a public library. Three (3) years experience in library technical services using an integrated library system, preferably Sirsi Unicorn. Supervisory experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency in Windows XP or later, an Internet browser, MarcEdit, FTP and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of EDI/X12 in library applications a plus. Working knowledge of AACR, MARC21 (bibliographic, authority and holdings formats) and Dewey Decimal Classification. Skills in organizing and developing staff, budgeting, fiscal management, organizing workflow, supervision, and problem solving.
