Joseph Patrick Fleming


Proclamation


WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Fleming was welcomed home into his Heavenly Father’s arms on October 30, 2016, after battling cancer courageously with his family, teammates, and the community by his side; and

WHEREAS,
Joseph attended Hall Elementary where he was a Fifth Grader; and

WHEREAS,
He developed a love for the game of baseball at an early age, starting his career with the League City Little League where he was a part of several championship teams, was a member of the 2013 and 2015 League City All Star Team helping lead them to a District Championship, and was also a member of the Texas Blue Chips; and

WHEREAS,
Joseph would play any position on the baseball field, however his love for pitching was very evident and it was on the pitching mound that he developed his nickname “Dirty Change”; and

WHEREAS,
He was an avid Houston Astros fan and had an opportunity to become friends with Astros pitcher Lance McCullers, and strike out Houston Astros All Star second baseman Jose Altuve; and

WHEREAS,
He was a loyal friend who could always be seen with a smile on his face, united a community, and inspired others to live life as he did, by putting others first, learning to laugh at yourself, and letting your smile be contagious.

NOW, THEREFORE,
I, Pat Hallisey, by virtue of the authority vested in me as the 10th Mayor of the City of League City do hereby dedicate October 30, 2016 as

“JOSEPH FLEMING DAY”

in the great City of League City.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF,
hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of League City, Texas, to be affixed on this the 7th day of November, 2016.
