National Breast Cancer Awareness Month


WHEREAS, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month; and

WHEREAS, current estimates from the American Cancer Society is that about 40,450 women will die from breast cancer; and 

WHEREAS, about 1 in 8 American women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime, making it the most common cancer, except skin cancers; and

WHEREAS, early detection through screenings, such as mammograms, can help find cancers before they start to show symptoms; and

WHEREAS, when detected early, cancers, when they are small and have not spread, are easier to treat and have better outcomes.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pat Hallisey, by virtue of the authority vested in me as the 10th Mayor of the City of League City do hereby declare October 2016 as  

“National Breast Cancer Awareness Month”

in the great City of League City.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of League City, Texas, to be affixed on this the 13th day of September 2016.
