Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Menendez serves as the Director of Public Works for the City of League City.

His responsibilities include providing direct oversight for streets, storm water management, traffic operations, wastewater treatment, water production, line repair, vehicle maintenance, and facilities maintenance.  Menendez will also assist in the development of the city’s strategic plan and helping to meet the increasing demands of the organization, improve operations, and enhance customer service to the League City community.   

Menendez has more than 30 years of experience in Public Works. Prior to coming to the City of League City, he was the Director of the Public Works Department for the City of Tallahassee. He has also served as a City Traffic Engineer, Transportation Planning Engineer and Traffic Manager throughout his career and as the District 14 Traffic Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation. 

Menendez attained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an Associate in Arts Degree from Florida State University. He also holds professional engineer licenses in Nevada and Florida.  

Additionally, he was selected as the 2013 Public Leader of the Year by American City and County Magazine for his efforts in advancing the City of Tallahassee’s Gaines Street revitalization project.  

Menendez has served in this position since August 2016.
