Storz Hydro-Connectors
To purchase storz adaptors for the 3,794 hydrants in the water distribution system at $100 per hydrant.
FY2013:  2,544 converters were purchased for a total of $252,110
FY2014:  Remaining 1,250 converters to be purchased @ $100 per hydrant

Why It's Needed
Storz adaptors for fire hydrants allow fire departments to have a universal connector when connecting to fire hydrants for fire fighting capabilities.  At present, the city's hydrants have two different sizes of connections (4" and 4.5"); this can slow connection time for firefighters and limits the ability of mutual aid responders to assist if they do not have a hose adapter of the proper size.  Converters are made of forged aluminum and powder-coated quantum finish which will also make the converters more durable in our climate.  The converter will be engraved with "City of League City" and "Not To Be Sold For Scrap Metal" to deter theft.  The converters are to be installed by City staff and volunteer firefighters as part of the city's ongoing hydrant maintenance program.
