Traffic Development CIP Projects

This program is to upgrade components on existing signals, improve timing, and construct intersection improvements to improve mobility throughout the city. Traffic improvements are included in the Reinvestment and Streets/Traffic programs in the FY2018-2022 Capital Improvement Plan.


Projects In Progress At A Glance:

Traffic Signal Reconstruction (Reinvestment RE1703):
FY2019: Rebuild signal at FM518 & Park $320K; Design and construct railroad crossing at Main St $290K and rebuild signal at FM518 & Iowa $320K
FY2020: Rebuild FM2094 at Stadium traffic signal $350K
FY2021: Rebuild FM518 at W Bay Area Blvd traffic signal $350K
FY2022: Rebuild FM518 at Landing Blvd traffic signal $350K

Traffic Systems Improvements (Streets/Traffic):
FY2017: 1) Design traffic signal with left turn lanes at the intersection of League City Parkway and Brittney Lakes Drive/Fennigan Lane. Estimated design cost $140K.
FY2018: 1) Construct traffic signal with left turn lanes at the intersection of League City Parkway and Brittney Lakes Drive/Fennigan Lane. Estimated construction cost $1.6M. 2) Design traffic signal and westbound right turn lane at the intersection of League City Parkway and Magnolia Lane. Estimated design cost $60K.
FY2019: 1) Implement Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) Software. Provides control and monitor integration of all City-wide signals. $116K 2) Design a traffic signal at the intersection of League City Parkway and Landing Boulevard. Estimated design cost is $45K. 3) Construct traffic signal and westbound right turn lane at the intersection of League City Parkway and Magnolia Lane. Estimated construction cost $550K.
FY2020: 1) Construct a traffic signal at the intersection of League City Parkway and Landing Boulevard. Estimated construction cost is $400K. 2) Design a traffic signal at the intersection of League City Parkway and W. Bay Area Boulevard. Estimated design cost is $50K.
FY2021: 1) Construct a traffic signal at the intersection of League City Parkway and W. Bay Area Boulevard. Estimated construction cost is $350K. 2) Design traffic signal at the intersection of Calder and FM517. Estimated design cost is $50K.
FY2022: 1) Construct traffic signal at the intersection of Calder and FM517. Estimated construction cost $350K.

SH96/SSH Intersection Improvements (Streets/Traffic ST1602):
Intersection improvements at South Shore Blvd and SH96. These improvements are intended to address some of the chronic congestion experienced at this intersection during peak hour and on weekends. The improvements will include auxiliary left and right turns on all approaches. The improvements are anticipated to make the intersection 20 to 25 percent more efficient. This should reduce delay and enhance driver satisfaction.

Master Mobility Plan (Streets/Traffic ST1603):
This project will update the Master Mobility Plan.

FM270 & Austin New Traffic Signal (Streets/Traffic TR1101):
Design and construct traffic signal at the intersection of FM270 and Austin St.
