Traffic Development CIP Projects

This program is to upgrade components on existing signals, improve timing, and construct intersection improvements to improve mobility throughout the city. The Fiber Network Traffic System West Side project has $334K in FY 2015 to install fiber from Texas Ave to Bay Area Blvd.  This will give the traffic signals the ability to communicate effectively and provide improved signal timing and progression along the major corridors.  There is also $482K in grant funds to install battery backup and surge protection systems at traffic signals and install LED signal heads and luminaires and pan/tilt/zoom cameras along with fiber/wireless communication.  The final design of the North Landing Boulevard extension and beginning design on the Ervin/Hobbs connector are included in FY2015.  Also included in the five-year plan is funding for new traffic signals in key locations that currently have four-way stops, construction of the North Landing Extension and Ervin/Hobbs connector, and a traffic study along the FM270 and SH96 corridors.
