Comprehensive Plan
The city recently completed the 2035 Comprehensive Plan. The Plan serves as a blueprint for how and where the community should grow and considers issues such as land use, neighborhoods, mobility, community facilities, infrastructure, and economic development. 

Award
The City of League City's Comprehensive Plan 2035 was chosen by the the APA Texas Chapter Awards Committee as the recipient of the Chapter's 2011 Comprehensive Planning Award. On October 7 the city received recognition for this award at the Texas APA Annual Conference held in Austin, TX. The awards program promotes the work of planners in Texas by recognized exemplary work in the state. 

Adoption
City Council held a public hearing on April 26, 2011 and adopted the 2035 Comprehensive Plan on May 10, 2011. The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the Comprehensive Plan on April 4, 2011, with the understanding that one change would be made, reduction of employment resulting from the Preferred Growth Scenario from 76,144 to 54,931 as a result of infrastructure constraints identified during the transportation modeling process.

Open Houses
On Wednesday, March 23, 2011, the city held a New Directions Open House at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center in League City. Over 150 local residents and businesspeople joined city staff and elected officials to review the results of these studies and plans. The Open House included:
  • The 2035 Comprehensive Plan,
  • A new Branding, Development and Marketing Action Plan,
  • The Economic Development Strategic Plan,
  • Efforts to improve Main Street,
  • Updates on status of mobility and infrastructure plans, 
  • Other completed and ongoing studies.

Two additional meetings were held on May 4, 2011 at Bulter's Courtyard and May 5, 2011 at the First Area Baptist Church Student Center.
